I decided that I would start a new series here on my blog, a ‘How-to’ guide of various different things. The first one I’m doing is how to be productive. I am generally an productive person, but sometimes, I lack motivation and these strategies help me get back on track. I thought I’d share my tips with everyone because being productive can be very difficult at times!
Write lists: Writing lists may seem very simple, but it is very effective. If you write a list every day or every week, of things you need/want to complete, with tick boxes, it’s more likely you will do them. You will strive to complete all the tasks so you can tick off all the boxes. It is really satisfying knowing that you have done everything you wanted to do. If you complete all the things you want to do, you can get on with procrastinating! Also, writing lists helps to prevent Alzheimers!
Tidy room: Where ever you do your work of any kind, make sure that your room is tidy. A tidy room is a tidy mind! If there is nothing around you that can distract you, there is no way you can get distracted! Also, it’s really nice work in a tidy environment, I find that it makes me a lot more productive.
Routines: It is really good to get into routines for doing your work. Whether you work out before, or shower, or even just have breakfast, do something that gets you in a good mindset to work hard. The more you do the same routine, the easier it will be to work, because you get into the mood to work and it becomes instinct.
Cut out distractions: It is very easy to get distracted by anything and everything. If you move away all of the things that distract you, then it is a lot easier to focus on what needs to be done. Things like televisions, music or even just magazines, move it all away, you will be able to get so much more things done if you cut out all of the distractions around you.
Take breaks: Sometimes it can get overwhelming, working really hard with no distractions. Take 15 minute breaks every 30 minutes to 1 hour, break down your working time into sections so it is more manageable. If you give yourself time to rest, you will work harder so you feel like you’ve earned it and time passes quickly. Try not to go onto a device or social media, because you can get sucked in and before you know it, 45 minutes will have passed, and it is really hard to get back in the mindset to work.
