How-to: De-stress*

Sometimes I get into a really stressful mind set, and it really affects my mood, productivity and my day in general. So I do 1 of 5 things to help me de-stress and get back on track, and I thought I’d share my tips with you! This post is also in collaboration with a brand called Casper, they are a company that sells mattresses and all things to do with beds! They have challenged me to spread the word about Stress Awareness Month, which is from April 1st – 30th, and let you know about the importance of napping! Maybe these tips will help you live a stress free life!

  1. Have a nap!

There are so many benefits to napping, such as, it boost your memory, reduces stress and anxiety and it keeps your heart healthy. Below there is a full list of all the benefits, which were kindly sent to me by the lovely people at Casper! The best naps are 10 – 45 minutes long, you wake up feeling energised and it triggers a creative mind! Any longer and you’ll wake up feeling really groggy and dazed. Try to nap between 1 and 3 pm, but definitely not after 4 pm!

2. Take a bath!

Baths always chill me out and relieve my brain of all the stresses that come with everyday life! Even if you don’t put in a bath bomb, the warm water just seems to soak up all my worries! Sometimes it is nice to light a candle so you can associate that smell with calming and relaxing times, so next time you light it, it’ll relax you!

3. Write to-do lists

This may seem like the least de-stressing activity to do, but trust me it can really help! Every morning, I sit and plan 5 things I want/need to do in that day, so I know exactly what needs to be done, instead of a jumble of tasks floating around my brain! I like to keep it at 5 so I don’t get overwhelmed, but by all means, find what suits you best!

4. Listen to Hawaiian Music!

Recently, I have been listening to Hawaiian music, and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me! It is so relaxing and it takes me to another places, it sounds so soothing and peaceful and I highly recommend you try listening to it if you get stressed a lot! There is a playlist on Spotify, called ‘Hawaiian Dreams’, that has some amazing songs so check it out here!

5. Go for a walk

It doesn’t have to be a long walk, but if you get out and clear your mind, then you have a chance to be alone with your thoughts! When you get back, you’ll have so many ideas and become really creative! Try it for yourself!
