How to: Deal with Anxiety

Nowadays, anxiety comes in all shapes and forms, and it is quite common. I suffer from it – to a degree, and over the years I have generated a variety of different coping methods. When anxiety kicks in, it can be very stressful and upsetting, and sometimes I feel so alone, but these techniques really do help me to get back to my usual self. These methods work well for me, now they may not work for you, but give them a go, as a long the way you may find a different one.


Surround yourself with friends/family

This can be very difficult, but if you trust someone a lot and they make you feel happy, then try and be around them before your anxiety becomes too overwhelming. Talk to them about what is making you feel this way, they’ll give you a positive outlook and assure you that it’s really nothing to get overwhelmed with.

Deep breaths

Although simple, this may be the most affective. By putting all of your concentration into breathing in… and out… you lose track of what was making you feel anxious. Also, it switches off the production of adrenaline, relaxing your body.

Listen to Hawaiian music

When I find myself in a situation where I can’t do anything else but put headphones in, I turn on my Hawaiian music playlist. It really relaxes your body and takes your mind off of everything going on around you. On Spotify, they have an incredible playlist called Hawaiian Dreams, I really recommend you take the time to listen to it.


I have become obsessed with exercising, I go to the gym about 5 times a week. It really makes me feel good and happy, you’l find that your head will be filled with positive thoughts and you’ll rarely get anxious. Combined with eating healthily, anxiety got nothing on you!
