Here is the third post of my guide to creating a skincare routine! I’m excited to share with you all my tips for moisturisers! I’ve skipped toners because I don’t personally use them or agree with them, and I’ve found even better results with a splash of cold water.
This is probably the most important step in skincare, the skin relies on the presence of water in the tissues, and on a daily basis, it’s removed. Oil is the skins way of protecting the moisture from leaving. Moisturising also helps to smooth the skins texture and maintain skin cell health. Adding moisture to the skin helps the skin’s firmness, smoothness, luminosity and softness.
What moisturiser for my skin type?
Dry Skin – needs a heavy, oil based moisturiser that absorbs into the skin. Oil based products are better than water based products, as they prevent water evaporation.
Normal Skin – needs a water based product containing light weight oils, such as silicone.
Oily and Combination Skin – avoid oil based products, stick to a water based moisturiser. Use moisturisers sparingly, look for products labelled ‘noncomedogenic‘ as they are formulated to not clog pores.
I really love the Liz Earle Skin Repair Light Moisturisers, for most of the year I use the ‘combination/oily’ formula, however when my skin needs it, I opt for the ‘normal/combination’. When my skin is super dry, I like to use the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream as it is insanely nourishing!
